We got Sarah an Elf on the Shelf yesterday! We read her the story last night and after some serious thought, she decided to name him Belly Button! (After we talked her out of Santa Claus...).

She seemed to understand the concept but when it was time for bed, she didn't want him to go anywhere...

I thinks he figured if she held on to him while sleeping, he wouldn't be able to go tell Santa how she did that day?

Anyway, she awoke this morning to find Belly Button and Jessie watching TV together!

What glorious 4 day weekend we've had!! We started off with our 2nd annual trip to Disneyland on Thanksgiving Day! It wasn't too crowded, hot or cold. It was just perfect...it didn't even rain! Yay!! Sarah got to meet all of the princesses (except Jasmine) at lunch (at Ariels' Grotto in California Adventure) and then she also got to meet Woody, Jessie and Buzz! Oh, and Santa!! I think she was most excited to meet Jessie! We stayed to watch the parade that night and left soon thereafter. It had been a long day and had gotten cold. Sarah feel asleep on the way home (and slept for 12 hours!! Woot!) so Chris and I took care of some Black Friday shopping that evening from comfort of our warm bed! No early morning shopping for us!! We spent the rest of the weekend doing some shopping (after all of the crowds), finishing up the Christmas tree and a lot of relaxing! A great weekend!!

Bay Area Trip

A few weeks ago we went to the Bay Area to say good-bye to some really good friends who moved across country. While it was sad knowing that it would be the last time we'd see them for awhile, we loved the time we spent together and thoroughly enjoyed watching our girls play together!

Visit to the Irvine Park Pumpkin Patch

We had a (rare) free weekend and decided to head to the pumpkin patch at Irvine Park. It was so much fun!! Sarah loved playing the ring toss game and even won a prize! Then we played hide-and-seek in the hay maze! After spending some time in the bounce house, we walked over to the OC Zoo to see the animals and play in the petting zoo. It was the first time Sarah would even go NEAR the animals and she loved it! Yay!!

First Day of Preschool!

Yup, today was Sarah's first day of preschool!! She has been going to an in-home daycare/preschool for the last year run by a wonderful woman who we all adored but we decided that it was time for Sarah to move on up to a "real" preschool. After some searching and researching we decided on Grace Lutheran in Corona. It's actually just around the corner from Tanya's Toddlers...a bit closer to the freeway (which is convenient for Chris and me!).

We got her all signed up and last Thursday we took her to their open house where she got to meet her teacher (Mrs. Valiente) and see her new class room! She LOVED everything about the place! They have a fantastic art room and a great playground just for the little kids! They even have a "little" potty, sink and mirror! Sarah loved the place so much we had to drag her home kicking and screaming!

I made cupcakes (Sarah helped in her own way) for her Good-Bye Party at Tanya's on Friday. She wanted, and received, pink cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles...Yummm!!! It was sad saying good bye to Tanya! She's been a great teacher!

All weekend long we talked about her new school. We made her lunch together for her first day and even read a couple of "first day of school" books at bedtime.

Chris and I dropped her off this morning together, just in case there was a problem. But NOPE, Sarah had it all under control and couldn't wait to continue her exploration of the school! Yes...I cried...quite a bit. My baby is growing up! She handled it all WAY better than her mommy did!

Chris picked her up after work and the teacher said she had a fantastic day! She spent a lot of time in arts and crafts and brought home quite a few pictures for us! She ate almost her entire lunch (everything but the goldfishies) and took a nap. And "no accidents" which she was very proud of! We decided to go out to celebrate so Chris picked up some Mickey D's after school and we went to the park (in 98 degree heat) to celebrate as a family.

I think we finally found an answer to our toy storage/organization and have managed to get back our media room! Thanks to today's Target ad and Chris for putting it all together!! Yay!! Not only did we organize the toys we are finally getting rid of the last "baby" toys by giving them to her current daycare. They're in a bag ready to be delivered tomorrow!!!

P.S. Normally I would NEVER post my messy house but...it was really the only way to show how well we "clean up"!!

Beach Day

Yesterday we spent the day at the beach!! We went to Reef Point at Crystal Cove - it was beautiful, warm but not hot, not crowded and so much fun! There were lots of fun waves to play in, some tide pools that had these little crabs that would run all over that we tried to catch and lots of sea gulls to chase! Of course all of this happened after we convinced Sarah that we were NOT going to leave after only being there for 10 minutes!! And the BEST part is Mommy saw 2 dolphins swimming right off shore, right behind the body surfers!! So cool!!!

Sarah Loves to Swim!

Since Sarah started swim lessons a couple months she's learned quite a bit and has become quite comfortable in the water. She know what to do if she accidentally falls in, can swim to the side and pull herself out.

We decided to get a pool membership at The Retreat (gated community right next to us) for the summer. To give Sarah more experience in the water, on a more consistent basis (more than just 30 minutes a week) plus it's a nice place for us to spend the afternoon together as a family when the weather gets too hot. We've gone every weekend and even some nights after work! While Chris and I were on vacation, Grandma and Pop-Pop watched Sarah for us. They went to the pool everyday! Sarah LOVED it!!

She loves to jump in off the side, especially while holding her giant floating alligator! She swims underwater, even opening her eyes! She loves to stand on the steps, countdown from 10 and Blast Off!! She loves to watch the "big" kids do their tricks in the water...of course she then doesn't understand why she can't do them! We have to sometimes remind her that she's too little for some of that stuff. Today she tried to do the cannonball jumps like the big kids...she was standing on the edge of the pool trying to figure out how to hold her legs and jump in! So cute!!!

Meet Alice!

For the last couple of weeks Sarah has been talking about her friend Alice. She would talk about how they played together everyday. I would ask where is Alice and she would say at home. I'd ask where is she from and she'd say her house (ok...Sarah's 3...what was I expecting her to say?). I kept meaning to ask Miss Tanya (Sarah's awesome daycare teacher) about her but we're usually so rushed in the morning that I just drop her of with a quick "hug hug kiss kiss". Finally, I remembered to ask Miss Tanya the other day about her. Well...she does not have an "Alice" at daycare!! She was wondering who Alice was herself! She said she talks about her all day!!

Guess Miss Sarah has a new imaginary friend!!

Sarah has an extremely vivid imagination (which we LOVE!!) This we have known for awhile but I have no experience with kids and their imaginary friends. So, we're just rolling with it. Following her lead and are sure to in include Alice in all of our family activities...she even met us at the beach yesterday (with her daddy)!

As a side note, when I mentioned Alice to my mom she paused for a few seconds and reminded me of her Aunt Alice. A lovely women who even I remember spending time with as a child. Aunt Alice was a playful, fun woman who loved kids. She also told my mom that if she ever found away to communicate with her after she was gone, she would. Hmmmmm...could this be Aunt Alice?? I guess only Sarah knows for sure!!

What a Weekend!

Whew!! What a great long holiday weekend! We kept ourselves VERY busy!! Friday night we were at the Lake Elsinore outlets to do some shopping. They had bounce houses, clowns and face painters! Too bad it was so dang hot! We got some good summer shopping in though!!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early to get to Disneyland right when they opened!! We wanted to get there before the crowds and before it got too hot! We rode Small World (Sarah's favorite), the Tea Cups (another Sarah fave) then Pirates of the Caribbean - I don't think she's ever going to forgive us for bringing her on that ride! She's still mad about it!! After Pirates we went to California Adventure to check out the new Ariel ride! I think Sarah was a bit skeptical after the horrors of Pirates but she seemed to enjoy it! There are lots of brigt colors and the music is great! Sarah then wanted to go on the ferris wheel...yes, the GIANT ferris wheel at CA...Luckily she's too small to go on the swinging cars but she LOVED the stationary ones! Poor Chris was a bit nervous due to his fear of heights. Afterwards we had lunch at the Bakery Cafe (or something like that) where we had the BEST bread bowl salad and chili! Why hadn't we eaten there before?? It was then getting REALLY hot and REALLY crowded so it was time to head home.

Sunday was spent with Auntie Tiff, Uncle David, Kaylin and Cami at their house in Cherry Valley!! What a fun afternoon and evening!! Lots of different toys and best of all a HUGE cat condo (for their kitties)!!! Sarah was on the top "floor" of that thing within minutes of arriving at the house and spent a good part of the rest of her time there. She LOVED it!! Too bad we don't have any cats...Yummy BBQ and good friends...a great way to spend the day!!

For the 4th of July we decided to take Sarah to her first Independence Day parade in downtown Corona. We went out to breakfast first then drove on over to watch the festivities. You can tell how excited Sarah was watching it (while sitting on Chris' shoulders). I think we lasted about 20 minutes which was fine with Chris and me...it was SO HOT!!! Later that day, Auntie Darcy, Jordan and Andrew came over for some bounce house and water fun!! We also BBQ'd and tried to stay cool indoors! I think the kids had a good time...what do you think? And thank you to Auntie Darcy for cutting Sarah's bangs!! She can now see!!

Sarah was EXHAUSTED Monday night and crashed not long after our guests left. She/we missed the fireworks...which was OK with us. We'd had a great weekend though!! Now we need another one to rest up...

We had a nice quiet Easter at home this year. Sarah and I painted eggs the day before with her Princess Egg Decorating kit that she picked out all by herself! She knew exactly what to do Sunday morning...search for eggs!! The first one she found and immediately opened it up and ate the candy inside!! She's no dummy! The rest of the day was spent relaxing and watching movies. Couldn't have asked for anything more!!

Sarah Turns THREE!!

Can you believe it!?!? I can't...I just can't believe that just yesterday I was holding our little miracle baby in my arms, meeting her for the first time. The baby we never thought we'd ever have who finally decided it was time to join our little family. That little baby is now a full-fledged little girl of THREE!!

We had quite the weekend!! Grandma and Pop-Pop came into town a few days before with Aunt Sheri and Uncle Kerry. On Friday, Auntie Bubbs, Uncle Brian, Amelia and Penny arrived for the weekend! The party weekend was set to begin!

On Friday, Aunt Sher-Bear and Uncle Kerry took Sarah to Disneyland! They had a fantastic time, especially at the Princess Lunch where Sarah got to meet all of the Disney princesses!! I think Cinderella was her favorite!

Saturday was the birthday party!! Sarah had about 14 of her friends to Build a Bear at the mall. They took such good care of the kids! They had a great time! Each child got to pick 2 hearts (instead of the usual 1) and during the heart ceremony, each friend gave their extra heart to Sarah for her bear! So cute!! After the bears were stuffed and sewn up, they got to pick out out-fits for them to wear. So much shopping fun!! After Build a Bear, most of the partiers came back to the house for cake and ice cream. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Sarah and she blew out all of her candles! She and Grandma had been practicing all week!

The weekend came to an end when the Horwitz family, Uncle Kerry and Aunt Sher-Bear went home on Sunday. So sad to see everyone go but we had such a great time with all of them!!

These past 3 years have flown by! You have made our family complete, love bug! We can't imagine our life without you in it and we can't remember what life was like before you came along! We love you SO MUCH!! Happy Birthday, baby girl!!

I Hate the Stomach Flu!!!

Sarah's been sick with the stomach flu for 2 days now. She's doing so much better....just needed to get the little bug out of her system. When I picked her up at daycare, it looked like a warzone! The only thing missing were biohazard suits! ALL of the kids (and at least 1 teacher) had it. I'd laugh but Chris and I are praying we don't get it now!

At least the love bug is feeling better!! Back to the germ factory...er...school tomorrow!!!

Aunt Sher-Bear's Birthday Weekend

Sarah and I just got back from a quickie overnight weekend trip to Reno to celebrate Aunt Sher-Bear's 40th birthday!! Sarah was such a good little traveller! She climbed right up into her window seat and even buckled the seat belt all by herself!! She was a big help to me - getting our suitcase through the airports! Grandma and Pop Pop picked us up and they had Sarah's carseat all set up in Pop Pop's big truck - she loved the view she had! Saturday afternoon we went bowling - Sarah almost won! Not bad for her first time bowling - and she loved it! She even spent some time in the giant indoor playground with Grandma! That night we all went to dinner at a great Italian restaurant then back to Grandma and Pop Pop's for yummy red velvet bundt cake. Sarah was a big helper for Sheri when it came time to open her presents! Sunday morning we had a big breakfast a favorite restaurant - Peg's. Sarah had the big Minnie Mouse pancake and she ate almost the entire thing! Soon thereafter we had to leave for our flights home. We had such a good time!! Can't wait to see everyone again!!

Christmas Show at School

Sarah's school (daycare) put on a Christmas show for the parents and their families a couple of days before Christmas!! It was absolutely precious watching the kids perform! Then, when it was all over, Santa arrived!! We thought that Sarah would be absolutely terrified but nope, she went right up to him when he called her name and even gave him a hug later on!!

Christmas with Sarah this year was just magical!! She totally got the whole Santa scene! On Christmas Eve, she and I tracked Santa's journey around the world - even his stop in Ireland to see Grandma and Pop Pop and his stop in Florida to see Grandma and Grandpa! That night, before going to bed, Sarah put out cookies and milk for Santa and tangerines for the reindeer!

Watching her reactions to the tree...the presents...the stuffed animals Santa left on the staircase...seeing that Santa ate some cookies were just priceless. Memories that will last a lifetime!

She loved opening her presents and mommy's and daddy's and Murphy's and Riley's...

I can't wait for next year!

Our amazing friend Amy (or Mamie as Sarah calls her!) took our Christmas pictures this year! Poor Sarah had broken her arm a week or so beforehand (jumping off an outdoor play toy at school) but instead of postponing the photo session we decided that it would make for a great memory and have the pictures done - totally Sarah!! That's our little daredevil!! Amy, as usual, did a fantastic job!!

Florida Visit with Grandma and Grandpa Gray!

Just before Thanksgiving, Chris took Sarah to Florida to visit Grandma and Grandpa Gray!! Grandma took her to a store that just had baby dolls!! So much fun!! They also spent some time at the mall in a cool playground! I really missed them but I'm so glad she got to know her Grandma and Grandpa and spend some time with them!!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had an amazing Thanksgiving weekend this year and I think we've started a new tradition with our good friends!! The Treviranus-Horwitz clan headed down from the Bay Area on Wednesday to spend the long weekend with us!! On Thursday we ventured out to spend the day at Disneyland to see the amazing Christmas decorations that Disney has up! We even stayed late to see the parade and the fireworks!! On Friday the 2 Lori's spent the day cooking our Thanksgiving meal. It was delicious!! Saturday was spent relaxing and in the afternoon the Gray family headed to downtown L.A. to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live - one of Sarah's favorite shows!! On Sunday our friends left for home...so sad to see them go but can't wait for next year!!

Halloween!!

Halloween was a huge success this year!! Sarah really got into it and loved being a Lady Bug. After her 2nd house she became quite the "Trick or Treat" pro! We went with some neighborhood friends, including her friend Peityn who was dressed up as Cinderella. She had a Halloween party at school on Friday and she dressed up as Princes Leia!

Pumpkin Patch!

We met up with some great friends at Mr Bones Pumpkin Patch on Saturday for some great Halloween fun! There was face-painting, pumpkin decorating, giant slide-sliding and some bounce house bouncing! Busy Weekend

I had a busy weekend...Jr League, working on MY Halloween costume (Sarah's already taken care of), errands to run, etc. so Chris took over the Sarah-watch on Saturday. This is what happens when Sarah gets bored...Imagine my surprise (shock?) when I walked by the Star Wars room and saw that Tornado Sarah had struck again!

After church (on Sunday) and before running our errands for the day we decided to go to Cowboy Surfer for breakfast/brunch. We picked up a paper on the way...Sarah decided to check out the candy deals while Chris checked out the specials at Big 5!

New job (me)...new daycare (ok...several new daycares - long story)...new and busier schedules, all of which take me to OCTOBER! Miss Sarah has been out of daycare since June 1st and is being watched by Grandma Keenan at home while I finish up my job with Safeway. The little tornado has had a rough time adjusting to staying home as you can see in the pictures below...

The corn starch Grandma put on the couch to soak up the pee - yes, she peed on the couch TWICE! We didn't get a pic but she peed on the other couch that night. Yes...not only did she have 3 "accidents" in 1 day (she'd been accident free for so long!) she had each one on a couch!

Trip to Disneyland!

We had our monthly trip to Disneyland a couple Saturday's ago...only THIS time, Brian, Lori, Amelia and Penny came with us! Yay!! They came down for the weekend and we had so much fun! Friday night we hit Chick Fil A for dinner then went to a new neighborhood park that had some cool playgrounds. On Saturday we were all up bright and early for our LONG day at Disneyland AND California Adventure! It was Sarah's first trip there and despite a trip to First Aid (for an eyewash - sunscreen in her eyes) she loved it! The Bug's Life area had a few great rides for her! After California Adventure we went to Downtown Disney for a little shopping, dinner and balloons! The trip was too short as everyone left Sunday morning for home. Can't wait for them to come down again!!

Easter Weekend

What a beautiful weekend!

We spent Saturday at an Easter Egg Hunt party and had so much fun! There was a huge bounce house and lots of other kids to play with - the Easter Bunny was even there! Sarah was a bit nervous about the GIANT bunny...she would wave at him but definitely kept her distance! There were 400 eggs to look for during the Hunt! What fun!

On Sunday we had our own Easter Egg Hunt for Sarah. She really enjoys looking for little prizes!

Bay Area Visit

A few weekends ago Chris and Brian went to Las Vegas while Sarah and I flew up to the Bay Area to keep Lori and the kids company! We flew Jet Blue out of Long Beach and Sarah had her own seat with her own TV! She loved it! She had some trouble keeping her headphones on but the TV kept her happy during the short flight north.

On Saturday we went to visit my friend Becky and her little girl Tabi (who is a week younger than Amelia and about 10 months older than Sarah). The girls had a GREAT time together playing on Tabi's backyard playset and investigating her beautiful backyard! That night we got to see other family friends and their kids - so much fun!

On Sunday we flew home - again, Sarah was great! She's become quite the little traveller!

On the eve of Sarah's 2nd birthday, we came home from celebrating Chris' birthday to heard that Miss Sarah had climbed out of her crib. Miss Jill said she wasn't hurt and was actually quite proud of herself for accomplishing this new feat! Fast forward 1 week, Sarah hadn't climbed out of her crib again so we figured she had had her fun and wouldn't do it again. WRONG! That Saturday morning, after hearing her wake up and want to get out of her crib, I went in to get her and she had 1 leg over the side and the other leg was in mid-swing. OK! Time to get Sarah into a bed STAT! We already have enough visits to Urgent Care, thank you very much! So that day, Chris and I purchased Sarah a full/double size bed. We plan on using the sides of her crib as the headboard and footboard (when we figure out how to attach them). She has been successfully sleeping in her new Big Girl bed for a couple of weeks now and appears to like it! She has a lot more room to move around (which she does a lot of in her sleep) and she loves it when Mama or Daddy gets in with her to read!

The theme was ladybugs! Bright reds and black...how cool is that? From the invitations to the 24 goody bags I decorated with a sharpie to look ladybug-like! A fun time was had by all - despite the rain that moved the bounce house to the garage within the first hour of the party. Pierce and Sarah were not affected by the sudden downpour INTO the bounce house at all!

Hooray!! She has been cleared to go back to school! A really big Hooray!!

She's also off the Mucinex and the Proventil inhaler but has to complete 2 more days of her antibiotic. We can handle that!

Unfortunately this means that Grandma Keenan is going to be leaving for home. We're going to miss her! She's been such a huge help! We don't know what we would have done without her!

Rough Couple of Weeks

Miss Sarah has had a rough couple of weeks.

She had a sinus infection and the anti-biotic the doctor gave her gave her a really upset tummy...enough to go through several outfits a day. Unfortunately, this is not a reaction to the medication but a side-effect. Once she finished that, she was actually OK for a few days but then woke up with a horrible cough. Chris took her to Urgent Care (because it happened on a weekend naturally) and the doctor said it hadn't moved to her lungs but would put her Zithromax to keep it from doing so. By Wednesday she still had the cough and still had a fever...a high enough fever for daycare to send her home. I took her to Urgent Care (again, after office hours) and the doctor said she had asthma bronchitis. He gave her 2 nebulizer treatments (which she HATED), a steroid shot, a prescription for Proventil inhaler to be used every 4-6 hours and told us to finish the anti-biotic...oh, and to keep her out of daycare the rest of the week.

By Saturday her cough seemed better and she did too but by that night, things went quickly downhill. She woke up from her nap with a fever so we started the rotation of motrin and tylenol which didn't really seem to help much. She also seemed to be breathing quickly...short breaths. The funny party of all of this is that she was eating...A LOT...which she hadn't done for the last week! Her fever kept going up and up and by 3am it was 103.8. Chris and I debated a trip to the ER and decided to just keep her cool and take her to Urgent Care first thing in the morning. We saw the doctor almost immediately after arriving and when he listened to her chest he said he heard some pneumonia but wanted it confirmed with x-rays. PNEUMONIA!! That never even occurred to Chris and me!! Well, the chest x-ray comfirmed the original diagnosis. She was given an anti-biotic shot and instructions to continue with the inhaler and see her regular pediatrician the next day. Sarah took a long nap Sunday afternoon and after 7 long days, her fever finally broke. Hooray!!

Grandma Keenan flew down Sunday night...Chris and I were at a breaking point from exhaustion and worry and needed some help. On Monday, Grandma and I took Sarah back to the doctor. He could still hear the pneumonia in her lower left lung. We were told to continue the inhaler, give her some Mucinex 4 times a day to bring up the "icky stuff" and give her an oral anti-biotic twice a for 10 days. She is to stay out of school (it's contagious) and have a re-check next Monday.

Sarah has actually handled all of this better than Chris and I have!! Looking at her running around as usual, you'd never guess she was sick. Thanks to everyone for their good thoughts and prayers...they've really helped us get through this!!

Monthly Trip to Disneyland!

We made our monthly trip to Disneyland on Saturday. Sarah had a GREAT time! Last month she didn't want to go on any rides and had been scared of the rides (except Small World) the last few times we went. Not this time! We started off on Small World which was still decorated for Christmas...it was so pretty and Sarah LOVED it! Dancing and clapping her hands...she was so happy! After that we hit the Storybookland Boat Ride which we'd never done before. It was just "ok"...nothing special but Sarah seemed to enjoy it and that's all that matters! Chris and Sarah then went on Dumbo which Sarah had been pointing at each time we walked by it! She didn't love it and actually said "mama" at one point but she didn't hate it either. I then took her on the carousel. Last month I couldn't even get her to sit on the horse and we had to get off the ride before it even started. This time she knew what to do and seemed to really enjoy herself! After the carousel the 3 of us headed over to the Teacups which she also liked! We then went over to the Haundted Mansion which Sarah did not really care for at all...she never cried or screamed but just whined the whole time. Based on her reaction there we decided not to go on Pirates of the Caribbean. We did head over to the Winnie the Pooh ride which she always enjoys!

After we were done with our rides we went to the Blue Bayou restaurant for lunch. It was SO YUMMY!! We are definitely going to be going back!

Wow! 2010 already? I can't believe how time has flown by since the Love Bug made her debut almost 2 years ago!! I know! She'll be TWO in March!!

2009 was an amazing year for us all...Sarah turned 1 at a fantastic birthday party in Reno celebrated with lots of friends and family. Dad found out he had actually BEAT Stage 4 tongue cancer! We took an amazing (and exhausting trip) halfway around the world to Ireland where we spent a fun week with friends and family - a trip we'll always remember! Our little girl already has a stamp in her passport! We have watched Sarah grow from a baby to an official toddler...walking, running, talking and sometimes screaming full-fledged toddler!!

This past decade has brought many changes to our life together...from Chris and I getting married in 2004 to moving hundreds of miles from home and our friends and family to finally giving birth to our amazing little miracle Sarah - who we waited so long for!

I can't WAIT to see what 2010 brings us!! It's going to be quite the ride if the past few years are any indication. We're up for it!!

Kindercare was kind enough to provide a Santa for their kids last Friday. We thought it was a great idea since we had yet to find the time to bring Sarah to the mall to meet him. We didn't think she'd like him especially with the hatred she showed toward Winnie the Pooh and Tigger at Disneyland the week before, BUT we had to try!

Sarah HEARD Santa's "Ho Ho Ho!" as she was walking down the hall from her classroom with Grandma and me before she even saw him. She then proceeded to CLIMB UP Grandma! The pictures show the rest...

We had a LOVELY Thanksgiving holiday together! Typical Southern California warm weather allowed us to keep the doors and windows open to help cool off the kitchen where all of the goodies were cooking away! Chris even made his family stuffing recipe - it was delicious! Unfortunately, extended family could not join us but the 5 of us (including Riley and Murphy) had a nice, relaxing day!

We have so much to be thankful for! Healthy and happy friends and family...good jobs that we like and our biggest blessing of all, Sarah. She brings so much joy and happiness to our life!!

As I posted awhile ago, Sarah figured out how to get the safety latch off of the Star Wars cabinet. Well, last night she got the safety latch off, opened the door and pulled out all of the DVD's. Not normally a big problem...more of a mess. Well, that was not enough...nope...she stacked them up so she could CLIMB up on top of them to get to the top door of the cabinet and open that up and get inside to see all of the collectibles she's (apparently) been DYING to see! She had a big smile on her face the whole time...she was so proud of herself!!

Sarah's New Game

On Sunday, Sarah and I were driving around the shopping center, going from Target to Babies R Us...a fairly typical weekend morning for us.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL so we had the windows down and the radio up listening to some good music when all of a sudden something catches my eye in the side-view mirror and I hear a click - click - click. I stop and look and Sarah has thrown her Binky OUT the window! And now she's LAUGHING!! Well...needless to say after I saw it rolling around the parking lot I decided NOT to go pick it up and give it back to her. She'd lost it for good.

Fast forward 3 days and I'm driving the little miss home from daycare. She'd somehow smuggled another bink into the car and was (happily?) sucking away in the backseat. We came to a red light and after I came to a stop, I hear a click-click-click and I see her hand sticking out the window. I didn't see anything on the ground but there was quite a bit of traffic. The light turned green so I started driving along and the next thing I hear is Sarah SCREAMING "mine!" (over and over and over). Guess she HAD dropped it out the window!

So, decision has been made...no more binkies in the car...although, now I'm afraid she'll throw something else out! I've been keeping an eye on the stuff we've got back there...I have visions of her blanket hanging out the back window while she's laughing away...

We all went to Downtown Disney on Sunday to meet up with an old friend of mine. A friend who I have seen in YEARS and I've known since high school. He and his family had been at Disney all week having a great time and were leaving that afternoon for home. I'm so glad we got to see them! AND...Jeff got to finally meet Sarah!!

Halloween weekend started with a Halloween party at school on Friday night. Sarah got all dressed up in her costume and went with Grandma and Daddy to the party (mommy had to work).

Then Saturday night, Sarah got all dressed up in her Princess Leia costume to go trick or treating for the very first time! We knew she wouldn't wear the "wig" that came with the costume so we improvised...but I think you get the idea!

We went to about 6 houses or so and she got more courageous at each house! Except for the scary one that had spiderwebs and lots of scary noises!

Grandma is here visiting this week to help out Chris and me (we've got a super-busy week) and to take Sarah Trick-or-Treating on Saturday! Yay!!

Well, last night Sarah needed a diaper change. Now Chris and I have learned (the hard way) that the diaper changing process needs to happen at super-sonic speed or Sarah will get bored and jump up and leave...and RUN...NAKED...very fast, around the house giggling as she is being chased by one or both of us. Grandma, had not yet learned this lesson so she was taking her time changing the diaper. Well, Sarah had had enough waiting and got up to run around. Instead of chasing her, Grandma said she would put the diaper on Riley and Murphy. Sarah, not phased at all came over to Grandma, pointed at Riley and Murphy's bottoms, showing Grandma exactly where the diaper goes! Then she took off laughing!

I think Grandma learned her lesson!

Aunt Sher-Bear Comes to Visit!

Aunt Sher-Bear came to visit this weekend! Yay!

On Friday, Sarah, Sheri and I went to Mr Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood. It was hot but fun! Sarah even got a little heart painted on her cheek! Afterwards we went to Sprinkles to pickup some cupcakes - we LOVE their red velvet - YUM!! After we got the cupcakes, we went to have an early dinner at the Saddle Ranch in West Hollywood (on Sunset). They had a mechanical bull that people kept riding but it scared Sarah! We had to keep taking her outside onto the patio each time someone rode it!

On Saturday, Sarah went to Disneyland with her Aunt Sher-Bear who was visiting from Reno! Antie Sher-Bear and I took Sarah on It's a Small World - which SHE LOVED!! (note: the last time we went on it, she hated it) She danced and clapped and sang the whole ride...made our day! She sort of liked the parade...I think the music was just a little too loud for her although she was clapping through it all! Maybe next time she'll enjoy it a little more!

We all really miss Aunt Sher-Bear and can't wait to see her again!

Rest In Peace My Friend...

I have been struggling with how to post this...I have been in such shock since it happened...

Yesterday, I found out that I lost a friend. A new friend...a wonderful, funny woman I met through The Nest, chatted with on Facebook and finally met when she attended a get-together at my house just a few weeks ago. I really felt like I had known her forever! We talked a lot about her pregnancy...I answered questions she had about aches and pains and what to expect. I calmed some fears...and we laughed about stupid things like Farm Town (on Facebook). I kept teasing her because she was "nesting" so much the last week or so...I KNEW Gabrielle would be coming soon!

I went out of town Friday morning to a conference for the weekend in Las Vegas. Even with poor cell reception and no Wi-Fi, I continually checked to see if there was any news about Jewelyn and Gabby. On Saturday, Jewelyn posted the following on Facebook:

Even with bouts of nausea for 18 weeks, I can honestly say I have enjoyed being pregnant these past 9 months, but I am also glad this journey is about to end, and start a new chapter in my life. I am 40 weeks pregnant... 0 day to go.

Gabby was finally coming!! Yay!! I kept checking online for updates and finally that evening I saw that our good friend Amy was waiting for Jewelyn to text her that she was ready...ready for Amy to go and take pictures of the birth! I had some trouble sleeping that night (now I know why)...I kept checking online for any news - but there wasn't any. I went to my morning conference and before the closing session started, I signed on to Facebook and read a post asking for prayers for Jewelyn. All of a sudden I couldn't breathe...I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. I was shaking so hard...I had trouble getting online to find another message that would give me more information. When I finally did...the news wasn't good. Jewelyn gave birth to her daughter via emergency c-section the night before and ended up suffering an amniotic fluid embolism and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). She was brain dead. During my flight home, I received the message that she had been removed her from life-support.

My dear, wonderful, funny, sweet friend was gone. My friend who wanted this baby so badly - she had suffered a miscarriage before finally getting pregnant with Gabby. My friend who never got to hold her baby after giving birth to her.

Gabrielle was immediately taken to UCLA Medical Center for observation. She is doing great and is expected to be released from the NICU later this week. She is a miracle and a blessing!

My group of friends have set up a fund for Phillip (Jewelyn's husband) and Gabby through PayPal and are arranging to have a tax-free fund created. As I get that information I will post it on here. Any contribution will help...

Please pray for Jewelyn, Phillip and Gabrielle...Please thank God everyday for the family you have and hug and kiss them whenever you can...As I learned yesterday, life can be taken away in an instant.

Yeah, yesterday morning she had the dogs going crazy because, even though we were in the house, it was still beeping the car alarm...over and over and over...If anyone was out there, I'm sure they thought the car was possessed!

She actually repeats pretty much everything she hears but these are the ones that we hear most often lately.

And believe it or not, she's never said the word "No"! Probably because she hears it all the time...

Finally A Member of Club 20!

Actually...Club 21!! We took Sarah to Urgent Care on Sunday evening for a high fever (that she'd had all weekend) and the doctor guessed her to be at 21 pounds...we laughed because she's basically been "kissing" the 20 pound mark for several months now! We weighed her on our way out and she was actually 21 pounds!!! Wooohooooo! Way to Go Sarah!!

Yes, she's still rear-facing in her carseat. We've decided after doing some reading and seeing some (disturbing) videos that this is the best thing for now. We're shooting to keep her that way until she's 2...we'll see how it goes!

BTW...she has an ear infection so she's on antibiotics for 10 days. After being on them for 1 day she's already "back to normal".

Sarah Loves Pizza!

We took Sarah to California Pizza Kitchen in Palm Desert for lunch on Saturday. Chris and I ordered a pear gorgonzola salad to split then he ordered the cheeseburger pizza, I ordered the white pizza and we ordered Sarah her own little Hawaiian pizza. We got the salad early and she seemed hungry so we gave her some of the cheese...she LOVED it! Couldn't get enough! Then her pizza came and she was picking at it but seemed WAY more interested in her daddy's pizza so Chris gave her some. She loved it! She was even picking the onions off and eating them on their own! I can't believe she's such a good eater...too bad we can't get her over 20 pounds!!

Miss Sarah - Not Feeling Well

We got a call from daycare on Thursday that Sarah wasn't "herself" and had a temp of 101! Chris took her to the doctor and he said she had a virus so we were told to keep her cool, give her motrin/tylenol for the fever and keep up her fluid intake.

She spent a lot of time sleeping on Friday. Luckily Chris was able to stay home with her all day.

Saturday her fever finally broke and she started to feel better, yay!! We could tell she was feeling better by the "lovely" mess she made in the family room!

She's back at school today! She really missed her teachers and friends!!

New Things Sarah Has Learned

Miss Sarah has figured out how to pull the outlet protector thingies OUT of the outlets!! Yes...it's a fun new game for her to play. Luckily, so far, no fingers or other objects have been put back into the outlets...

She's also just now tall enough to start opening doors...quite the nice surprise when mommy or daddy is going to the bathroom. She thinks it's hysterical!!

Guess we'll be heading to the "safety" department at Babies 'r Us this weekend!!

Oh! She's also up to 13 teeth now!! We can't believe it! In the span of just a couple of months she's gone from 4-13!!! Way to go, Sarah!!!
